Aerodynamic and structural development of modular bicycles using LUMI

Advanced Engineering develops innovative bicycles for road racing and triathlon under the brand name Gram. The company is working to introduce a modular bicycle that can be transformed from a road bike into a triathlon bike by simply changing a few components.

Previously, development processes relied on trial and error and limited computing power, meaning design cycles could take up to a year. Faster and more efficient design methods were needed.

– Traditional design methods could not provide the speed and flexibility required to remain competitive. A new approach was needed to accelerate development while improving aerodynamic and structural performance, said Alexandros Kitselis, CEO of Gram.

The company turned to FFplus and gained access to resources on LUMI to reduce design time, improve aerodynamics, optimise weight and stiffness, and deliver higher-performing, more affordable bicycles.
