[Incident] Security maintenance on compute nodes

Friday 10 July 08:32 CEST (09:32 EEST)

As a new critical Linux security vulnerability (CVE) was disclosed yesterday (Thursday) evening, we are preparing and rolling out an additional security patch across the system.

As a result, LUMI node availability is expected to be affected during the weekend while this work is carried out.

A maintenance reservation has been set for the compute nodes, which means that new jobs can’t start. The jobs that have already started can run until they end during the weekend.
There will be some login node reboots, so access will be intermittently restricted.

We have no indication that LUMI has been compromised, and this is a proactive measure to ensure the continued security of the system.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to keep the system secure.
